Exploring Taylor's Inspiring Yoga Journey and Its Transformative Power

Updated: Apr 29

My yoga journey began in 2012, during my freshman year of college in Tampa. A new friend invited me to a campus yoga class. I’d always been naturally flexible and drawn to things that came easily, so I thought, why not? I expected something light and physical—what I’d seen in magazines or on community boards (this was pre-Instagram, if you catch my drift).

What I experienced was something entirely different.

That class shifted the course of my life. The teacher guided us to breathe with awareness:

“Expand the belly, draw the breath up the spine to the crown of the head, pause… then exhale in reverse.” We spent the entire hour just breathing.

That simple instruction became the foundation of my practice. I still teach the breath that way today.

From that moment on, I was hooked. I practiced everywhere—my dorm, the hallways, the grass, the beach—whenever I had a moment between classes (or needed to procrastinate homework).

In 2014, a friend invited me to join a year-long yoga teacher training that offered a payment plan—perfect for a broke and part-time working college student. After graduating, I began teaching in local gyms, and in 2015 I moved to Vail, Colorado, where I continued sharing yoga with new communities.

By 2017, I had relocated to a more remote part of Colorado, where access to studios and gyms was limited. I kept practicing, traveling, and living life—but always felt the pull to return to teaching in a deeper way. Still, I questioned whether I had enough training or experience to become the kind of teacher I aspired to be (hello, self-doubt).

In 2022, I returned to Florida and began studying under the guidance of Alexis Martin. Over the next three years, I immersed myself in her teachings, earning my 300-hour certification between 2024 and 2025. That training opened new dimensions of understanding—blending alignment-based movement, neuroscience, nervous system regulation, Ayurveda, philosophy, and Bhakti yoga.

My teaching style today is rooted in versatility, curiosity, and reverence for the practice. I draw inspiration from many lineages and many styles, using yoga to break down boxes and barriers and develop a deeper relationship with self. However, at the heart of it all is this:

I believe yoga is a lifelong path of inquiry—into the heart, the mind, and the self. I teach to help others meet themselves exactly where they are, while staying open to all they have yet to become.

Ever the student, I’m committed to continuing this work—and sharing every step of the way.
